Lunch at a cafe in Seattle

While in Washington state last week, I went to a cute little restaurant with my boyfriend and his grandparents called the Oak Table Cafe. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place: warm and friendly with a hometown local feel to it. They had many interesting dishes to choose from, such as Quiche Du Jour ( a french custard dish) and "The Alaskan"- a sandwich containing smoked ham, baby Alaskan shrimp, swiss cheese, tomatoes and a special sauce. Another cool thing about this cafe is that they serve breakfast all day, and there are many different options to choose from- including pancakes, omelettes and crepes.
After deciding to choose a healthier lunch option, I ordered the Greek pita (grilled chicken, feta cheese, lettuce, tomato and a sour cream cucumber sauce wrapped in a warm pita). As my side I chose a garden salad with lavender vinaigrette. That's right, lavender. Washington state is big on using lavender since a lot is grown there. They even incorporate it into their cooking, which I found interesting since I had never heard of cooking with it before. I really liked that this cafe had a lot of traditional American dishes, but still incorporated local flavors into some of their recipes.
Here is a not so great picture of my meal, but there's a story behind it. Like I said earlier we were eating with my boyfriend's grandparents, and especially since it was my first time meeting them, I didn't want them to think I was crazy for taking pictures of my food (not everyone is a foodie like me ;) ). Anyway, I would definitely go back to this little cafe, and plan to do so in the future.
